Expandable Container Home – They’re Selling These Things for Only $10,000

Expandable Container Home – They’re Selling These Things for Only $10,000

So modular homes are inexpensive alternatives, in many cases, to traditional construction homes, but I came across this expandable modular container home, and they’re listing them for $10,000 (you still have to pay shipping, of course).

These shipping container homes are clad in quality timber and are suited for country or beach properties, according to the people selling them.

Another thing modular home buyers might factor into their estimations is that the shipping for a container home from overseas costs in the thousands, to get it to our coasts and to ship it from the coast to your location.

So how are they built, some of you might be wondering? The house is a modification of an ISO shipping container (you can buy these a lot of places, there is a huge global supply of shipping containers). THey cut off some of the corrugated sheet and manually weld a smaller container to it as a slide out.

The slide can be moved by several people working together, but without too much effort, according to the prefab manufacturers.

They then decorate the interior and use sound-absorbing wood ceiling panels, and use birch to cover the wall. They also have removable custom-built joinery.

The outside cladding and decking is done with antiseptic-treated timber.

I hesitate to link to the product contact page for this one, because it is from China on Alibaba and I can’t guarantee the quality, and the page I saw it on had only one sale showing. Once I hear more about these guys, I’ll update this page and I’ll update our Facebook page, too. Probably I’d suggest shopping around North American modular homes (they might already have options around this range) and contacting builders nearer home first and seeing if they can build something like this. If anyone ends up buying one of these expandable modular homes from overseas, though, please let us know how it goes so we can update people.

Whoa! Luxury Tractor Trailer

Whoa! Luxury Tractor Trailer

Here’s one of those giant RV luxury trailers. These are the ones made by Luxury Foretravel Motor Coach, it looks like — or at least they’re given credit in the “world of internets.” They do a lot of the Prevost box-style RVs, but the style of their tractor-trailer RVs have caught quite a few peoples’ eyes.

There’s a few of these giant custom RV tractor trailer set-ups that’ve been done using the Kenworth T2000. One notable example is the Cirque Zavatta trucks. You might have seen them online. They’re a bunch of burgundy tractor trailers — look like fancy horse trailers — with light grey or white strips and flourishes paint on the sides (see the picture). Cirque Zavatta is the name of a circus (in Mexico, I think). It just means Zavatta Circus.  You can also recognize them because a lot of them have murals of horses reared up on their hind legs painted on the sides.

Actually, there’s another set of these very similar fancy tractor trailers which also belongs to a circus — a French circus . They do all their trucks in blue (click here to see). This silver motorhome has a look that I haven’t really seen anywhere else on the internet (as you can see in the photo above).

The luxury RV builder Foretravel sells these things in the range the low hundreds of thousands over a million — like $1.2 million. For most people, that kind of money would mean a luxury house would be possible, but for others they love the road. On sale, $1.2 million RVs can come down to the high hundreds of thousands, like $800,000.

One good thing about used is of course the lower price — hundreds of thousands of dollars less. One good thing about new ones though is the warranty. Foretravel offers a 2 year / 24 thousand mile limited warranty. But it depends what you want to buy. Another, much more economical option is to convert a tractor with a custom sleeper conversion or just convert and toterhome-ize a trailer for it. Ok Now, This Might Be The Biggest

Ok Now, This Might Be The Biggest

These Mighty Machines Are Made In The Isle Of MAN!

Quite the side-out and fold-up unit here. That second level slides up and down on hydrolics, and it might be the biggest I’ve seen on the net of these massive luxury motorhomes (I’m talking ones that are built as motorhomes, not including massive trailers and things).

These machines are made by Man Motorhomes, a bodybuilder company located in Europe on the Isle of Man (which is an island south of England’s island).

This one is a 2010.

Man Motorhomes makes luxury offroad machines, and they’re tested extensivley in all kinds of terrains. You’ll see these ploughing through the sand dunes of Dakkar and other rallies.

Man also produces tough chassis and does certification for offroad and extreme motorhomes.

According to SLR Caravans, for example, “The MAN TGM 13.290 4×4 cab chassis, which is one of the most advanced off road trucks on the market. It features a 6.9L six cylinder twin turbo engine with 213kw and a massive 1150Nm of torque. With a 12 speed automated transmission, parabolic springs, airbag suspension and front and rear diff locks, it has all the electronic and mechanical technology on hand to traverse the most arduous terrain.”

Action Mobil and Commander use the MAN chassis.

For example, Action Mobil’s near-7-figureXRS 7200, which is said to be a motorhome up above the Earthroamer XV-LTS and Mercedes Zetros.

And they do military vehicles, camper vans, A and other class motorhomes, expedition trucks, busses (this is one of the most famous categories — these busses are used quite a bit).

Visit Man Trucks and Busses Ltd, but its kind a letdown if you’re looking for cool pics and motorhomes. It’s more like lists of specs pdfs. However, if you find anymore great pics of Mans — a type of machine we really don’t see a lot of — please share them on our Facebook page.

Luxury Motor Home

Luxury Motor Home

This luxury motor home is a Prevost diesel pusher with some features that you won’t find in most motorhomes, like glass tile (not just glass tile, but hand blown glass tile), a computer that comes up out of the counter in the kitchen, and a trap door that leads to a hidden room below.

Actually, tablet computers operate the slides and everything else in the motor home, and there are intercom systems so the door can be answered from the master bedroom, for example.

This RV cost a lot — a million dollars approximately, and belongs to a young man who was only 18 when he first had it.

Ashton Guidry got this RV for high school graduation. His dad Shane owns a Gulf Coast shipping company, and has another motorhome now. We’ll tell you more about that later.

The custom luxury coach’s storage bay — one of them — was converted into a lower-level room. Obviously, it’s not a tall-ceilinged room, but there’s a door to it from the exterior (as a normal bay) and from the floor of the motorhome interior.

The interior of the motorhome is 300 square feet in size, and as you might expect has all custom luxury fixings, like hand-blown glass tiles, custom upholstery, and a lot of electronics. Besides the master bedroom and lower-level room, the couch turns into a sofa bed for more sleeping space. The trailer on the back is an 18 wheel one, and is 28 feet long.

So what about that other motorhome I mentioned?

The other, newer motorhome is the most expensive RV ever sold, according to the RVing world media in the U.S.  $2.8 million dollars was the price paid for the unit, after factoring in all the custom work done to it. The 2014 Prevost Millenium belongs to Gulf Coast shipping company owner Shane Guidry.

His previous bus, a 2009 Prevost Millenium custom coach, he gave to his son for a graduation present when his son was 18 (high school graduation). The two of them sometimes make trips together in convoy in the two luxury motorhomes.

“The whole reason I do it is because I want to create things that he and I can do together, and continue to be best friends and grow together.

The motorhome engine has 500 horsepower and 2,450 foot pounds of torque. The interior has 350 square feet of space, in which are a master bedroom, Brazilian wood cabinets, a bunch of TVs, 2 satellite systems, and as you might guess a lot of custom furnishings throughout the unit, and all interior functions and slides are run by a computer — an Apple-based Savant system.

Those computers also allow Shane to monitor the vehicle when friends or family borrow it, and he can communicate with them through it when he sees the speed go up too high.

The motorhome is towing a 28-foot trailer that weighs around 20,000 pounds loaded with a custom ATV.

So the Guidry’s turn out to be one of the most luxuriously motorhoming families we’ve heard of. With Shane’s old one million dollar motorhome now belonging to his son and his new nearly three million dollar one that he drives, and the fact that they take many road trips with both of them and a bunch of toys like ATVs and things, it might be that they cruise down the road with five million dollars worth of machinery. What might seem strange to most of us — the value of these luxury RVs — is actually increasingly common. While it’s still not that common to see $2.6 on a sticker, one million dollar RVs are listed on a lot of websites and are the price of the 2017’s for many of the top-of-the-lines. Even 1.5’s. However, there are still a lot of units for under half a million and even under 100,000, depending on what you’re looking for.

This 5th Wheel Has a Slide-Out … With a Slide-Out

This 5th Wheel Has a Slide-Out … With a Slide-Out

Is that a fifth wheel with a slide out that has a slide out of its own? Yeah, that’s what we’re looking at here. Slide outs are going to almost extreme levels these days, and you frequently see doubles, but can also find triples, quadruples, and even RVs — both trailers and motorhomes — with five slides. And now we’re getting slide outs that slide out, in order to increase interior space to the maximum.

This is a Thor Redwood fifth wheel, it’s a 38-foot long RV trailer with the exterior paint option on it. Some of you may know Thor motorhomes and RVs from some of our other posts. They’re one of the leading manufacturers these days.

Jacks, steps, hydraulic slide outs, hitch pin, its all done by one manufacturer, so its simpler to deal with anything that might need work.

Thor was trying to make a high-quality residential fifth wheel when they built this one. It has huge storage bays underneath as well, with awning controls, options for an external entertainment system. The vacuum is easy to reach there as well.

This luxury trailer has frameless windows, alpha-ply roof, a residential door with a peep-hole, and all kinds of amenities for residential RV buyers.

Those slide outs with slide outs: They’re Schwinn-tech slideouts, to give more storage in the bedroom.

THe 5th wheel RV also has a 6-point automatic levelling system, which allows you to push both buttons at the same time, so you can break camp quicker, just setting the RV down the way you lifted it when you parked it.

It comes standard with full-body paint, an aerodynamic profile, solid hardwood cabinets, solid surface countertops, and many best in class features, our units are built to make you feel like a King and Queen. Because these are luxury products, you will have a feeling of comfort only achievable at home.

It also has a lot of insulation — the most of any residential RV made in the industry (although they’re constantly topping each other, so who knows if they still have the record).  I’ve heard these ones can be around $26,000 (used, I think). Amish style barn houses start at $5,400 and are built on site from $25,000

Amish cabin

If you are familiar with the Amish community in the business world, then you are also probably familiar with their reputation for quality products. I love the craftsmanship of Amish architecture, and the phrase “made with love” comes to mind when admiring their work. They pay close attention to the details which results in an astounding structure. So, if you are in the market for a house, barn, shed, cabin, or garage then keep reading to find out why an Amish build is a great idea!

Details, details, details! They are the key factor to quality work. Of course, the Amish Barn Company understands this very well. They are based in upstate New York and have been providing customers with quality work since 2005. From small dog houses to large two story horse barns, the Amish Barn Company does it all! However, not all us have animals to attend to, so let’s look at one of their structures that we could all use. A home! Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway spot or a full time residence, these cabins are a great choice.

There are several styles of cabins to choose from. I will be highlighting a larger style called the Board and Batten Cabin with Loft! This is an A frame cabin featuring a really great front porch! The first thing you will notice when looking at this cabin are the beams that are used to accentuate the A frame roof and frame the porch.  As a single beam runs horizontally across the porch with three vertical beams connecting it to the top of the roof there is a subtle yet warm resemblance to the sun rise. This may or may not be intentional, either way this detail can certainly give a new appreciation for the design. The next thing you should notice are the windows. Windows are important because they fill homes with natural light and allow for some amazing views! The best part about this feature is that it can be adjusted to fit the clients needs. You will see in the pictures provided that one home has a small circular window on the second floor while the other has two large windows upstairs. It might be fun to do a set of double cross brace doors on this cabin and accent the front porch area with a large triangular window above them!

It’s hard not to notice the beautiful wood that makes this structure. Stain can be a homeowners best friend with this cabin! It will allow you to get the shade you like without sacrificing the grain of the wood used to build it. You will see in the pictures below that two different shades of stain were used. On one cabin, a red tint was paired with unstained porch beams to create more contrast to the home. Inside the cabin you will find a large space with a staircase that leads to the loft area. The interior is dependent upon the client, so there is a lot of room to adjust the space to meet your desires!

Some other details that this company covers can not be seen in the build. The Amish Barn Company works with customers to make owning one of their structures more affordable. This can be seen through their rent to own program. They also cover delivery for free to any locations within one hundred miles of their home base in Oneonta, NY! It seems that it is safe to say, this is a company who cares about their product as well as their clientele!

Here is a message from them to you! Amish Barn Company says, “Our single wide one story cabins start at around $5,400. Our built on site cabins start around $25,000. We custom quote all our projects. Please contact me at [email protected] or call 607-432-0527 to design your own and for more information and pricing.”
